The Work of a Believer
By Victoria Osteen - Sep 08, 2015

In Scripture, they asked Jesus, "What do we need to do to be saved?" Of course, there is nothing you can do to earn salvation. It is a gift from God. However, once we are saved, there is a work to be done. Jesus went on to say, "The work of the believer is to believe."  This tells me that I have to work to keep my belief strong. It takes effort and focus, and I am the only one who can do this work for me. You are the only one who can do this work for you. And, it's a full time job! I don't need to work on Joel. I don't need to work on my kids. I need to work on my own faith, and you need to work on your own faith.

How do we work on our faith? Romans tells us that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. When I hear the Word of God, when I read and study it, memorize it and speak it, I am building faith in my heart. It's just that simple. Each person has been given seeds of faith. We all have the same tools to make it grow. If we will be diligent and focused on developing our faith, we will see God do amazing things! Remember today to do your work—the work of the believer which is to believe!

Jesus answered them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent." (John 6:29, ESV)
