Free to be Free
By Victoria Osteen - Jun 02, 2015

Galatians 5:1 tells us that it is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Have you ever really thought about that verse and what it means? God is saying to us that He wants us to be free so we can simply enjoy our freedom.

God wants to take us to new levels in Him, and that includes new levels of freedom. We can grow in freedom and experience new freedoms every single day. Freedom comes, first of all, when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. He sets us free from the law of sin and death so that we can have eternal life with Him. We don't have to live defeated, depressed, anxious, sick, upset, bitter or stuck in the past any longer. We are free to be free!

Galatians 5:1 goes on to say, "Stand firm then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." This tells me that we have to be proactive and pursue freedom. How? By choosing God's ways. Every time we surrender an area of our lives to Him, and every time we separate ourselves from negative, self-defeating attitudes and behaviors, we are growing in freedom.

Today, make the choice to pursue freedom by declaring, "I am free because Jesus has set me free! I will not allow myself to be burdened down with wrong thinking, negative attitudes, or anything that is contrary to the Word of God."

Always remember, you are free to be free!
